SURGERY

Placement of enzymatic cutter (Collagenase of CH) for curved penis

CH collagenase is still the only non-surgical treatment for Peyronie’s disease penile curvature.
Peyronie’s disease or Induratio Penis Plastica (IPP) is a condition involving the development of a fibro-calcified plaque within the erectile tissue of the penis (corpus cavernosum). This condition has a variable course starting with a painful sensation during erection and then hesitating with penile deformities such as shortening, narrowing, curvature or a sum of the above. Plaque changes from a collagen-based fibrous composition to being stiff and calcified. It is estimated that around 2-10% of men suffer from this condition.
Clostridium histolyticum collagenase is an enzyme composed of two different types of collagenase specifically indicated to degrade the fibrous component of plaque. The treatment involves inserting this enzyme into the plaque by associating the chemical action of the drug with the physical action of specific manoeuvres. The recovery of the curvature and the improvement of the elasticity will depend on the percentage of calcified tissue inside the plaque. The only possible side effect is a small, spontaneously resorbable hematoma.
It is essential to perform specific exercises following the treatment, in the absence of which the treatment is little or not at all effective.

    Dr. Andrea Cocci

    urologist and andrologist

The decision to dedicate my professional life to urology and in particular to andrological and reconstructive surgery is the result of a deep passion for anatomy , the art of surgery and in general the diagnostic-therapeutic process which leads to the recovery of the patient. Oncological pathology, infertility, erectile dysfunction, penile diseases or simply prostate disorders irreparably afflict not only the individual but also the couple dimension.
