Penis lengthening and enlargement
Penis lengthening and enlargement
Penis lengthening and enlargement are often requested in andrological surgeries. It is therefore necessary to provide information on the real possibilities currently present.
The lengthening is possible through a resection of the suspensory ligament of the penis, but it is a lengthening of about 1-2 cm visible above all when the penis is flaccid, while when erect it is little or not at all visible. The surgery is performed through a small suprapubic incision, performed on an outpatient basis. The suspensory ligament serves to keep the penis upright perpendicular to the body; therefore, its resection causes the erect penis to be directed more downwards than in the preoperative conditions.
Enlargement, on the other hand, is possible and various techniques are available which involve inserting substances or devices under the skin.
In the case of subcutaneous fillers (for example based on hyaluronic acid or adipose tissue), they determine a temporary enlargement of the penis as they are reabsorbable; therefore, the injections must be repeated on average once a year. A possible side effect of their use is that the resorption takes place in an uneven way, creating visible and palpable depressions.
Soon a soft prosthesis will be available in Italy that allows a definitive enlargement of the penis and a partial lengthening.
It is important to remember that penis enlargement is optimal only when the patient has been previously circumcised.
