UROLOGICAL SURGERY
Eversion of the tunica vaginalis for hydrocele
Eversion of the tunica vaginalis for hydrocele
Eversion and resection of the tunica vaginalis of the testicle is a surgical procedure useful for treating the most severe cases of hydrocele, i.e. an abnormal accumulation of transparent fluid in the scrotum. Before performing it, clinical and instrumental tests are necessary, including scrotal ultrasound.
The surgery is commonly performed via the scrotum.
This access route ensures the patient’s prompt recovery and a virtually invisible postoperative scar.
Once the scrotum has been incised and the testis has been reached, the sac of fluid that forms the hydrocele is exposed, mobilized and then removed. After simple excision, the edges of the pouch are sutured, and then the linings of the testicle and the skin of the scrotum are closed.
The patient can be discharged from the hospital 6 hours after surgery,
once verified that the diuresis is valid.
POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS
The most common complication of this surgery is the hematoma, which generally the hematoma resorbs spontaneously. In very rare cases it is necessary to drain the hematoma surgically.

Dr. Andrea Cocci
urologist and andrologist
The decision to dedicate my professional life to urology and in particular to andrological and reconstructive surgery is the result of a deep passion for anatomy , the art of surgery and in general the diagnostic-therapeutic process which leads to the recovery of the patient. Oncological pathology, infertility, erectile dysfunction, penile diseases or simply prostate disorders irreparably afflict not only the individual but also the couple dimension.
